It's been a very long year. When we closed our doors in March, 2020, we had no idea we'd still be searching for a way to safely reopen 13 months later.
You've been very patient as we've tried different solutions this year to discern what worked best for keeping staff and patrons safe. As you know, we are now open 4 hours per day for computer and technology services and 36 hours per week for contact-free holds pickup at our service window. This is working well for now, but as spring arrives and vaccines become available, we are all feeling like it is time to reopen the building for other services.
Every community runs their library differently, and many smaller libraries in our area have already made the decision to reopen. The libraries in communities our size, meanwhile, have continued to have our buildings closed to the public for most services. In other parts of Wisconsin, many medium-sized libraries are open while large city libraries remain closed. Please continue to trust us for a little longer as we work out how to best provide services to Sun Prairie. Within the next few weeks, we will be announcing our reopening plans. When we do reopen, things won't be 100% back to normal, but we look forward to inviting you all back in to browse the shelves, pick up holds, and use the self check-out machines once again.
See you soon!
