We cannot accept the following items:

  • Items that are yellowed, discolored, smoky or water damaged
  • Items with possible mildew or mold, or that have been stored in a musty basement or garage
  • Encyclopedias
  • Items that have been discarded from other libraries
  • Reader’s Digest Condensed Books
  • Textbooks
  • VHS or cassette tapes

Is the library accepting donations right now?

Yes! Please read the guidelines on this page before bringing in materials in to donate.

Donation size

Due to space and staff constraints, the library has a limit to how many donations it can receive at any given time.

Donated materials should be brought to the Welcome Desk. If a donation is larger than can be donated in one trip to the Welcome Desk, the donor shall be directed to the Information Desk to make an appointment for drop off. Patrons with large donations (more than one bag or box) should call ahead at 608-825-0702 to make arrangements to drop them off.

Donation acceptance times

The library can typically accept small donations (one bag or box) during all open hours. Large donations shall be accepted by appointment ONLY. Staff shall make every effort to schedule a time that is convenient for the donor.
