
Phase 2 of Expansion and Renovation
The library will close at 5pm on Sunday, June 8 and reopen on Tuesday, June 24* at 10am.
Much of the current library building will be under construction, while the majority of the new expansion will be open.
Important Dates:
May 19: Conference, Community Room, and Discussion Room CLOSE, until library project completion, Spring 2026.
May 25*: Read Before Book Store CLOSE until library project completion, Spring 2026. *Subject to inventory.
June 8: Last day to check out items. NOTHING WILL BE DUE BACK UNTIL AFTER JUNE 23!
June 9: Drive-thru book drops CLOSE, until November, 2025
June 9: Library will be closed from Monday, June 9 through Monday, June 23. Reopening Tuesday, June 24 at 10am*.
During Phase 2, many familiar library spaces will be closed for renovation. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition period.
- When we reopen on June 24, construction hours will resume.

- Some parts of our adult collection (DVDs, Blu-Rays, music, audiobooks) will be limited during Phase 2. Please consider visiting other nearby libraries to explore their collections. Remember, your card is good at any library in Dane, Sauk, Columbia, Wood, Adams, Green, and Portage Counties! Nearby libraries include Waunakee, Deforest, Columbus, and the Pinney, Hawthorne, and Lakeview branches of Madison Public Library.
- Drive-thru bookdrops will remain closed throughout Phase 2 of the project. Nearby libraries with drive-up bookdrops include Waunakee and Pinney Branch (Madison Public).
- The drive-thru holds pickup window will be closed. If you do not want to come into the library to pick up holds, our after hours lockers will be available outside the atrium, within close walking distance of the parking lot. If you are not able to walk from your vehicle, please call us to arrange another way to pickup or return items: 608-825-7323.
- The summer reading program will be available for youth, teens, and adults. It may be modified to adapt to changing expansion needs.
